In a global economy, Supply Chains have made it possible to have
lower cost solutions by putting the production facilities in
most cost effective areas of the world. Entity Value
Stream Linkages are shown in 3C. Note the center Entity
has two sources which may be at different locations in the
world. Also, it provides solutions to other entities which
may be locally or a long distance away. These linkages
must be managed to provide the most cost effective solutions for
the Customer.
Bar Coding and RFID technology and associated Supply Chain
Software Systems make possible for Just In Time Inventory (JIT),
thereby freeing up capital resources for a more profitable
enterprise. RFID systems give the ability to track
individual items to their source or visibility of product
pedigreed so important in the the pharmaceutical industry.
